On 7th September 2018 the Europe Biobank Week (EBW) was held in Antwerp (Belgium). EPTRI had been selected to participate in this conference with an oral presentation, entitled “EPTRI: Strengthening the development and use of paediatric biomarkers to offer better medicines for children”. EBW is one of the most noteworthy biobanking meetings worldwide, providing a forum for the biobanking community involved in this field. It was co-organised by BBMRI-ERIC (Biobanking and BioMolecular resources Research Infrastructure) and ESBB (European, Middle Eastern & African Society for Biopreservation and Biobanking) and provided an exciting and unique opportunity for the biobanking community to discuss the future challenges for biobanking, network and explore new prospects for cooperation. The theme of 2018 edition was “Biosharing for Scientific Discovery”. Donato Bonifazi, Chief Executive Officer of Consorzio per Valutazioni Biologiche e Farmacologiche (CVBF), coordinator of EPTRI, spoke about omics technologies and the setup of the EPTRI thematic platform supporting biomarkers use in paediatric medicines.
